Here is a butterfly. He looks like he is standing sideways on the butterfly cage. The wings are together.
Here the same butterfly but now his wings are spread out.
Here is a butterfly hanging almost upside down in the cage.

Congratulations on your beautiful butterlfies! I was surprised to see how speckled their wings are. The scientist who choose the name "Painted Lady" did a good job picking the name.

Question 1: Luke's sister Signe is wondering how the butterflies can walk up the side of the cage. Do you have any theories?

I think it is because there are little holes on the side of the cage and they grab on to that.
Their feet might be sticky.
They might have little hairs on their feet so that they can climb.
No, we haven't seen them drink it yet.
They get along together and don't bother each other.
They live about two weeks. Some other butterflies live longer than Painted Lady Butterflies.
