First observation day...

The students are working in research pairs. Today they chose a name for their research team and worked to measure the caterpillars in millimeters (mm), to describe how the caterpillar looks and to write about where the caterpillars are living. Here are some of the comments from the research teams:

Our caterpillars are very small. They have lots of dots on them. And they like to crawl around and eat. - The Butterfly Twins

Yesterday we put caterpillar food and a caterpillar in a plastic container. We put holes in the lid because they need to breathe. - The Pokemon Team

We just got the caterpillars yesterday. And we are very excited to see them grow. They are furry and spiky. - The Japanese Team

Our caterpillars look like they are kind of spiky. I have two caterpillars and one of them was swinging its tail back and forth.m - The Pandas

Both of our caterpillars move fast and mine is always digging up the food and he is inside one of the holes. Sometimes mine has a string but you can't always see it and it hangs from the string.
- The Spike Team

My caterpillar is one cm long and whenever I pick him up in his cup he just stops moving. My caterpillar is brown. My caterpillar's name is Caty and it doesn't move a lot. - The Numbers Team

Mine has white spots and it is prickly. My caterpillar is 12 mm long and looked like it was making a cocoon but it was just hanging. - The Butterfly Team
