I wonder if the new colours that we see on the outside of the chrysalis have something to do with the colours of the butterfly.

Very cool! How did they change from a caterpillar to a chrysalis? Did they molt one last time?
Yes they did molt one last time and inside was the chrysalis. Sometimes we saw the last skin on it or beside the chrysalis other times it was found on the bottom of the container where the food was.
